the regeneration
This project looks into the future of farming and its vitality in helping with the global warming crisis we are presented with today. The life and inspiration behind of the project stems from the book The Vertical Farm: Feeding the World in the 21st Century by Dr. Dickson Despommier. His book provides the blueprint for securing the world's food supply and at the same time solving the global warming crisis. His book opens the conversation on how to grow food in an efficient and sustainable manner. Vertical farming could also save energy, reduce toxins, save water, provide new employment opportunities, restore ecosystems, and much more.

This project creates a community space where vertical farming is displayed publicly for viewers as a source of information and education to those who want to discover a new way of farming. The building offers a community space, a restaurant (which uses the produce created in the vertical farm located on the top floors), a farmers market (where consumers can purchase produce created in upper levels), office space, and featured art gallery.

The inspiration behind the aesthetic of the building was inspired by environmentalist artists Christo and Jeanne Claude, as well as renowned architect, Neito Sobejano. The main factor that overtakes the building is the velvet wrapped pink staircase. The staircase enraptures the building essential leading to a glass platform that allows for those who climbed the staircase to take a peak through the vertical farming space and the operations that occur inside. The glass platform allows for the pink LED lights to pierce through the middle of the building.
